Virtual CPD Session: Introduction to Lime 
Thursday 19th June, from 10.00 to 12.15pm on MS Teams
Delivered by the Scottish Lime Centre Trust

This CPD session is ideal for building professionals who may not require extensive hands-on experience but need to understand lime’s essential role in conservation. It equips attendees with the knowledge to specify appropriate materials and methods in their projects, ensuring compatibility and longevity. 

Itinerary:

  • 10:00 – 10:15: Welcome and introductions.
  • 10:15 – 10:45: Presentation – Overview of lime in traditional buildings (history, science, and applications).
  • 10:45 – 11:15: Case studies – Examples of successful lime use in conservation projects.
  • 11:15 – 11:30: Break.
  • 11:30 – 12:15: Interactive Q&A and discussion – Addressing participant-specific questions and scenarios.

Lime and Mortar Course - May 2025

Courses for those interested in traditional skills, building conservation, or maintaining their property.

Building Maintenance event – 2023
In partnership with  we delivered a Maintenance and retrofit event for tenement owners.  Seventeen people attended.

Traditional Building Skills Demo Day 2023
We delivered our second Traditional Skills Demonstration Day at CERC.  65 pupils from Lochgilphead High School and Tarbert Academy too part.  See our , and our press release: High School pupils build on traditional skills

Energy Efficiency Course – 2023
Sixteen people attended attended a Level 3 Award in Energy Efficiency Measures for Older and Traditional Buildings. 

Lead Welding and Bossing - 2023 
Five local contractors attended a Lead Welding and Bossing course delivered by a specialist training provider. 

Mineral Paints CPD – 2023
In partnership with Keim Paints Ltd, we hosted a CPD seminar in Lochgilphead.  16 people attended.

Low Carbon Learning – 2023
We worked with BE-ST  to deliver a Low Carbon Learning workshop for Lochgilphead High School, Skills for Work students at UHI Âé¶¹¸ßÇå.

UHI Âé¶¹¸ßÇå Phase 2 - 2023
UHI Âé¶¹¸ßÇå students studying for the NPA Level 4 Construction Craft and Technician course helped design and build equipment for a local nursery.

Traditional Building Skills Demo Day Roadshow  - 2022
Lochgilphead CARS arranged and delivered the Âé¶¹¸ßÇå and Bute Traditional Skills Demo Day Roadshow across four towns.  The roadshow was attended by over 170 students from the four schools.  Building the future with traditional skills

Keeping Warm in Older Homes – 2022
We held a public event in Lochgilphead to provide advice and guidance on energy efficiency measures, renewable heating options and funding.  Partner organisations included; Home Energy Scotland, AliEnergy, Citizens Advice Bureau and ABC’s Housing Energy Efficiency Team. Over 80 people attended.

Historic Building Recording Course - 2022   
We commissioned Wessex Archaeology Ltd to deliver a two-day course for the community.  The course will help participants to survey and record historic buildings. Nine people attended.

Promotion of Lochgilphead Conservation Area – 2022
Information leaflets were issued to all properties within the Lochgilphead Conservation Area reminding owners/occupiers of the planning controls which apply within the designated area.
