Â鶹¸ßÇå and Bute Council have been working with schools and third sector partners to develop innovative schemes that encourage the school uniforms that children have outgrown, either reused or recycled – helping to save the planet and the amount of money people need to spend.
Interesting facts;
- On average, an item of disposed of school uniform contributes 4,7 times its weight in carbon emissions.
- 1.4 million wearable school uniforms are thrown away each year Reusing school uniform for an extra 3 months could reduce carbon, water and waste footprints by 5-10%
- It takes 2,700l of water to make a T shirt - that's enough drinking water for one person for three years!
- 54% of families say they spend up to £100 per year, per child on primary school uniform.
Most schools are running or support a scheme to reuse pre-loved school uniforms. We have group schools by Area click on the buttons above to see what’s on offer.
